In 2020, our resident GIS expert, Taylor Vergin, relocated from Michigan to Reno to work remotely and escape the snow. The successful pilot of his virtual position inspired Environmental Resources Group to officially open an office in Nevada in early 2021. Shortly thereafter, one of our staff geologists, Kayla Bicknell, heard the call of “The Biggest Little City in the World” and joined the newly formed office.

“This is a great example of how flexing to meet employees’ needs can also create new opportunities for the company. We want our team members to bring their best to work every day and if that means relocating, we’re open to figuring it out. The Reno office gives us a presence near federal sites we’re excited to pursue, plus we get to keep Taylor and Kayla in the ERG family. It’s a win-win,” says Executive Vice President, Robert Zwald.

Taylor is a Staff Engineer for ERG. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering and a Minor in Mining. Taylor hopes to offer his expertise in mapping, land research, and environmental compliance to the active mining and mineral exploration industries across Northern Nevada. His hobbies outside of the office include fly fishing, backpacking, mountain biking, and mineral collecting.

Kayla is a Staff Geologist for ERG. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Hydrogeology. She has experience performing a wide variety of field tasks, preparing reports, and is proficient in ArcGIS Pro. In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking, doing crossword puzzles, and hanging out with her puppy.
